SETD8 is a histone methyltransferase that specifically monomethylates 'Lys-20' of histone H4. H4 'Lys-20' monomethylation is enriched during mitosis and represents a specific tag for epigenetic transcriptional repression. The protein mainly functions in euchromatin regions, thereby playing a central role in the silencing of euchromatic genes. It is required for cell proliferation, probably by contributing to the maintenance of proper higher order structure of DNA during mitosis. It is also involved in chromosome condensation and proper cytokinesis. Nucleosomes are preferred as substrate compared to free histones.Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications not tested.Recommended Dilution:ELISA: 1:1,000Western Blot: 1:50-1:100Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.Storage and Stability:May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.Note: Applications are based on unconjugated antibody.
